Service Description

July 12, 19, 26. Dr. Loggerhead helps protect his beautiful sea-turtle friends. He needs your help in collecting size, gender and species data on sea-turtles near Shell Island. This data will be sent to NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) for further analysis of these species. Hop on the boat and join him for a snorkeling adventure! Snorkel gear, life-vest, snacks and drinks provided. Must be able to swim! Price is per person. Children under 8 yrs must be accompanied by an adult. Tues 7:45a-1:30p Activities include: - Sea-turtle data collections - Snorkeling with sea-turtles - Collecting starfish, crabs and sea cucumbers for biodiversity data - Plankton net pulls by boat, sea-turtle food data - Habitat analysis, differentiating sea-grass habitats and their inhabitants Recommended items to bring: - Sunscreen (without oxybenzone and octinoxate, best to apply before arriving and have some with you for reapplication) - Sunglasses (100% UVA/UVB protection) - Refillable water bottle - Towel - Pack a lunch! (Please be mindful of the plastic/packaging that can easily blow away. Reuseable containers are best.)
